Amsterdam,
Netherlands
with her famous canals and spectacular museums is a truly delightful
Dutch treat. Arriving from Schiphol
Airport or at Central Station you'll find this compact city
laid out roughly like half a spider-web but made up osf canals.
Near
the train station is Dam Square and the city's historic center,
but also the famous Red Light District. Wrapping around this
area is the Eastern Canal Ring, the Central Canal Ring and Jordaan/Western
Canal Ring. In the first, you'll find the Artis Zoo and Rembrandtplein
while Leidseplein
- on border of the city's canal rings and the museum/parks area
- is the new center of the city. Near here is the Rijksmuseum,
Vondelpark, the Vincent
Van Gogh Museum, and the Heineken
Brewery Museum. Continuing around toward Jordaan, you'll
find the unforgettable Anne Frank house.
